Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday on Friday.
Well, I am back from my glorious holiday in paradise and paradise it was – no cooking, no cleaning, lots of sight seeing and so much more. Now it is time to get back into the swing of things – creating, writing, teaching and finishing.
I had many responses to my question on Facebook about what colour to put with the heart fabric and they were all running neck in neck which is great. We all have different tastes and likes. The colour choices can be seen here in the Stitch Along Sunday – May Week 1 post.
I chose the green to put with the heart fabric as you can see in the Stitch Along Sunday – May Week 2 post.
Today as I was putting everything together to work on my stitch along piece for week 3, which by the way you can see the full set of rules on Ruth’s blog at Challenge Rules – May Week 3. And you can see what she has done with her piece on her blog at Stitch Along Week 3.
I pulled everything out from the drawer this morning and thought to myself the green isn’t enough and so I added in the orange and red – just a bit of each outlining the hearts. I put the blue and orange together and red and green together as each pair are complementary colours. This has added a bit of pop to each heart.
On to the next step I layered one on top of each other hoping that the hearts were lined up underneath or at least almost. The hearts were fused with fusible web to the background fabrics to ensure they stayed in position for this step. Then I made three cuts that intersected each other through the heart.
Once cut I exchanged pieces to create two pieces with alternating sections.
I went to sew them together and my machine decided to give me grief so I was brought to a grinding halt.
Next stop the sewing machine doctor.
I’ll be back soon with how it looks stitched together or so I hope.
Happy Quilting!
Good luck with the sewing machine, I like your hearts very much but I could never have continued slashing my work to pieces!!
Thanks Juliet. The machine is fixed – was something very simple so can continue on now. At one time I would not have been able to cut up my work either but now I find it very interesting to see what the end result will be.
