Contrasting Hearts

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday.

Look at that my post is actually being posted on Sunday.

This week is another simple week for the stitch along – no sewing involved only tracing, cutting and fusing. The rules can be found on Ruth’s blog.

The rule this week is to create a simple shape from the theme fabric and cut one from the theme fabric, one from the complimentary fabric. I of course chose a heart.

Along with making the heart I cut a 9 ½″ x 12 ½″  piece from each fabric.

I was going to use my heart template that I bought at the dollar store but then it just looked to uniform and didn’t fit in with the hearts in the fabric which are more whimsical and not symmetrical.

I ended up drawing a heart on a piece of paper and using it to trace onto the fusible web. I traced from the back side of the paper as I wanted the heart to look like this with the higher side on the right.

Once the shape was fused onto the fusible web I cut it on the line and placed in the middle of each piece.

That’s it for this week. I suspect next week some sewing might be involved as those pieces are going to have to be stitched down to ensure there is no fraying on the edges.

Happy Quilting!
