Zigzag Baby Quilt

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Story Time Monday.

So sticking with the theme of zigzag I thought I would highlight this quilt I made a few years ago for a friend in Australia to give to her nephew. I think I found the pattern at All People Quilt. I couldn’t tell you if it is still there or not – maybe in one of the back issues of Quilts & More that are on the site.

It looks difficult with all of the zigzags but really it is very easy. It is all half square triangles. Each half square triangle has a piece of the red fabric and coordinating fabric. The fabrics I used were from a Michael Miller line that I bought ages ago at The Patchwork Apple in Woodside, South Australia. I just went to find their website and unfortunately they have closed – it was a cute little shop.

This was a great little quilt that went together very quickly. I loved the fabric and the colours – perfect for a little boy. The modern fabrics are so much fun.

To quilt it I just echoed the zigzag pattern with one inch lines. I used a walking foot and drew the lines out with chalk.

In the blue areas I used a light blue thread and red in the red areas. More than likely variegated thread and probably King Tut.

I am sure the quilt has been well loved over the years or at least I sure hope so. Thanks to Karlene who gave me carte blanche to do what I thought would work and in whatever colour I choice.

Happy Quilting!
