How to secure unruly spools of thread

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Cool Tool Thursday.

What to do with all of those unruly spools of thread that do not come with a built in place to secure the thread end. Everything is great, of course, until the packaging has been removed and then they just unwind from the spool creating a tangled mess of thread in the thread container.

I have tried several ways to contain these spools of thread and the best option I came up with to make sure the thread stays wound around the spool is pony tail holders. They just slip around the spool and the thread cannot go anywhere.

A pony tail holder keeps threads wound around the spool.

The soft, wide, cloth-like ones seem to work the best as they cover up more surface area and anchor the thread in place very well.

Once again not really a quilting tool but definitely a cool tip.

Coolness Factor – Quilts by Jen rates it 6 out of 10. (Unless of course the fabric is really cool that they are made out of with fabulous colours and designs in which case we might be convinced to upgrade to 12!)

Happy Quilting!
