teal, plum and orange squares of fabric

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stash Blasting Wednesday.

Way back when at the beginning of the year as I was writing Colourful Friday posts I was also matching up colour scheme blocks for Stash Blasting Wednesday.

The other day I decided that it was time to work on these blocks and add to them to create quilts I intended to last spring in specific colour schemes. On the weekend I managed to make another 20 blocks to add to the already 4 blocks of the Arkansas Crossroads block.

This block I created in a triadic colour scheme using different values of each fabric to create contrast within the design.

The photo at the top of the page shows the blocks all sewn together. Now for the border – one problem though I am out of the lightest fabric and the plum. I have lots of the teal and just enough of the orange to add in a few accent pieces in the corners. I had really wanted enough of the plum to use as a skinny inner border to frame the quilt centre. But no joy so I will have to pick a different fabric and colour.

I set about auditioning a few different fabrics for the inner border and here they are.

None

only a single border

No inner border

I really thought black would be my best bet but now I don’t think so. I will ponder my options and sleep on it. No point rushing into a decision, after all the quilt has been waiting several months to get this far what’s another few hours.

One thing I have learned from this is to always pick fabrics that I have lots of so I don’t have this dilemma again.

Happy Quilting!
