I am very excited to share my most recent project published in A Needle Pulling Thread (ANPT) Magazine. The inspiration for Issue 61 was Tiles – so many great quilt ideas can be found in tile designs and their colours.

Take Time is created with just one block that when put together has the look of an hour glass where the dark triangles and cornerstones meet up. It also creates an elongated star with those dark triangles. I had a hard time choosing what fabric combo to use for this quilt and finally went with a soft batik palette that reminded me of the ocean and beach. Life is about taking time for ourselves whether it be to let the sand squish between our toes while walking along the beach and watching the waves roll in or through another activity that allows us to relax and enjoy the moment. It’s the moments that count so Take Time to enjoy them with this wonderful quilt wrapped around you.

Presently the pattern for Take Time can be purchased as a download on the ANPT website. It’s a great pattern to have fun with choosing fabrics – the background can be made with three different cream/tan/purple fabrics as mine was or use just one fabric and then create the half square triangles using the grid method which will speed up the process considerably. One of my favourite methods for making many HSTs from the same fabrics.

The Block

When a quilt is made with the same block I am always trying to piece and sew the quilt in the most efficient manner than I can. Chain sewing certainly helps to speed up the piecing process of the blocks and even for putting the rows together – just make sure to keep those blocks labelled until the quilt is completed.
