Hi there and welcome to the first Stitch Along Sunday Party.
This is my first time hosting a party. Yay! I’m sure there will be lots of questions about how this all works so don’t be shy – sound off in the comments below and I’ll answer as best as I can.
Last week my friend Ruth Blanchet of Arbee Designs started a weekly feature on her blog called Stitch Along Sunday. The idea is that we create mini art quilts (letter or A4 sized) using words that Ruth provides as inspiration.
Ruth started us off with four words last week: Time, Blue, Round, Plant. Then, each week, Ruth is going to give us another word and we’ll have to keep adding to our art piece with this inspiration.
Here’s what Ruth created last week:
Here’s what I created last week:
So, why is the Party here at Quilts by Jen instead of at Ruth’s blog? Ruth is totally swamped building up her Academy of Quilting online quilting school, getting a bunch of new classes ready, proofing and designing new patterns, running Arbee Designs and keeping up to the 365 Day Blog challenged that she double dog dared Jen to join her in, and a whole whack of other stuff, too!
Well both Ruth and I received so much great feedback about Stitch Along Sunday I suggested we set up a Linky Party so everyone participating could share what they were creating. I figured Ruth had enough on her plate, so I offered to be the party host. Oh, and I do love a great party.
Okay, it’s up to you now. If you haven’t started your Stitch Along Sunday art quilt, go here to read the introduction and get started. Then post your in-progress work on your blog and then link it up below!
Keep an eye open on Ruth’s blog for the next set of instructions and come back here for the party again next week!

Some simple rules for this party:
- Your project should be based on Stitch Along Sunday. Or, if you have another art quilt you’d like to share, for sure, join in. This is party is really all about art quilts, after all.
- Mention us in your post, either with a link or button. If you have a linky party page or buttons on your sidebar that works great, please just at least mention something in your post, for example “I’m linking to Quilts by Jen’s Stitch Along Sunday party, see my party page/sidebar for their button” (button to come shortly – sorry, just haven’t been able to get that sorted out yet!)
- If you follow us, we follow back!! PLEASE make sure to comment and tell us you’re following, and we’ll hop on over and follow too! 🙂
- The most important rule, TAKE TIME TO COMMENT. The best linky parties are where everyone gets a lot of comments. Try commenting on the post just before yours. If you take the time to check out their project, take one more second to leave a comment.
I shared this Party with the What a Hoot BOMs Away, Quilt Story: Fabric Tuesday, The Needle and Thread Network, Freshly Pieced and the Freemotion by the River parties.
This is a cool idea and I love the challenge. This week I will be preparing for a 60th birthday celebration for my ex-husband (weird, I know, but we have an amicable relationship), so too busy. But hopefully next week I can join in.
No worries Laura. Look forward to seeing what you create. How fun that you get along. Probably makes all sorts of life events so much easier to enjoy than a bitter relationship.
Great pieces!!
