Based on my Follow the Arrow pattern this design with the placement of the half square triangles and quarter square triangles creates lines that gives the illusion of a formation of airplanes. I have named it Snowbirds after the Canadian Snowbirds – our team of planes that goes from air show to air show putting smiles on everyones faces. Having spent 10 years as a flight nurse I love flying and watching airplanes.
Make it scrappy or coordinated. Choose a solid background or a colour with texture – make it neutral or use your favourite colour. Create all the planes (9 rows) a different colour or mirror the quilt from the centre using only 5 colours.
This is a quick and easy quilt you could work on at a weekend retreat!
