In my last post about presenting my trunk shows and workshops virtually I mentioned that I had taken a bit of a break from the website and blog for the last 3 years.
What have I been doing? Well, we sold our house, downsized, and bought an Airstream to live in 6 months of the year where there is no snow and the sun shines pretty much everyday. It has been absolutely wonderful to tour around with our house on our backs meeting great people and seeing amazing places.
Do I quilt in this small space? Absolutely!!!
Our Airstream is a great source of inspiration.
The first Airstream piece I created as a thank you to a couple we met during our first winter on the road who have become friends for life. I was inspired by not just the Airstream but also the fantastic sunsets and sunrises of the American Southwest with the great big skies of Texas and Arizona. They are breathtaking.
When two other Airstream friends saw the pictures, naturally I had to make ones for them, too. I customize the wall hangings or TV coverings to the model of Airstream the owner has. Originally the first one was made as a table runner or wall hanging but then we all decided that we really didn’t like looking at the black screen of the TV and put up a piece of art instead.
Finally last fall I finished the one for our Airstream. The background is quite different from the others and made up of many little pieces – over 500! As I was making the background I kept thinking are you nuts but then kept telling myself the effort would be worth it and it was. Pictured at the top of the page.
If you want one of these custom quilts to hide your TV or as a wall hanging or table runner I would be happy to create one for you. PS – I do other brands besides Airstream.
Beautiful! I, too, live in an RV, but not an Airstream. I live in a 43-ft. Class A and love it.
