Hey Everyone, welcome back to Quilts by Jen.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer, I know that I did. I spent most of it at the cottage enjoying the wonderful hot and sunny weather. My kind of summer. I did do a lot of sewing too. Because our cottage is totally off grid with no power I had to plug in the machine to the generator. I had a comment that that was very ‘Canadian’.
Next week, September 15 – 17, I am the featured artist at the QuiltX show in St Marys, Ontario. I am very excited to be a part of it and get to showcase all of my quilts in my very own gallery. How cool is that.
It is going to be a very exciting 3 days of lectures, looking at quilts, shopping and even a workshop.
I am teaching my Improv Design class on Thursday. We are going to have a great time making a small art quilt and learning all kinds of new techniques such as curved piecing, texture magic, thread play with wash-away stabilizer and much more. This is a great class for being creative and thinking outside of the box.
I will be giving 2 lectures a day on Sept 16 & 17. A total of 4 different topics so you will want to buy the 2 day pass. Friday’s lectures are “Adding the Wow Factor” at 11:00 am and “Tissue Box Art” at 2:00 pm. Saturday’s lecture topics are “The Ins & Outs of Colour and Value” at 11:00 am and ” Modern Designs with Yardage & Pre-Cuts” at 2:00 pm.
And the most exiting part of the whole show is that I have designed a new quilt to be revealed at the show. Each vendor was given the opportunity to make one as well and they will all be on display together. I am really looking forward to seeing how they have interpreted my pattern and what fabrics they have used. The pattern will be available at the show and then on my website afterwards. I’ll also do a blog post to reveal the quilt to the rest of the world.
I must get back to the sewing machine as there is still creating to be done for the tissue box art series prior to heading down the road next week.
Looking forward to seeing you all in St Marys next week for the QuiltX show at the Pyramid Recreation Centre.
Happy Quilting!
Love the quilts you’re showing, and I hope the show goes well for you. If I were closer I’d definitely come to your improv class; that sounds like so much fun@
Thanks Wendy, the show was a huge success and everyone had a great time.
Congratulations, Jen. Will you be putting any of these lectures, workshops on line later….? I won’t be able to attend, we have a new grandbaby and so I’m going there?.
We are considering that – will let you know when we do.
