Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday.
Last week for week 1 of the first challenge of 2014 I made my background from the dark fabrics and picked out my broderie purse motif as well as picked a colour to go with it. If you missed it you can check it out here – January Week 1.
This week’s rules can be found on Ruth’s blog at Rules – Week 2. Also make sure to check out the January Gallery to see what everyone else is up to with this challenge.
First things first I cut out my flower and there were lots of tiny little spots to cut out. Maybe next time I won’t pick such a detailed flower but boy I sure like it. A good pair of sharp pointed scissors helped with the job. Here I have placed it on a white background so you can see all the little bits I cut out – crazy.
Placement of the flower is going to be the key for how this piece flows. Also do I want a landscape or portrait orientation? So many decisions.
I already had some green fabric which I had previously fused some fusible onto last year when I was creating with the Leaves Galore ruler. I decided to use that green rather than the one I picked last week. Use up my scraps is my motto this year.
I played with some pieces that I cut with the small Leaves Galore ruler and their placement on the background. Nothing has been fused down yet as I am not 100% sure but I think that I am lending towards the flower on the right of the background.

Now to figure out some sort of embellishment. Hmmmmmm, I am going to have to think about that a bit and get back to you later in the week.
Which layout do you like?
Happy Quilting!
I like layout no 1 because it looks like some exotic lady lying down with her leg in the air! No 3 is fun too and on the same lines of the leaves being separated from the stem I would like to see the stem separate from the flower head. Cheeky aren’t I to make suggestions! I like no 4 too and if you choose no 2 that’s all right because I’m a fan anyway!! Have a great Sunday Jen.
Thanks Juliet. I haven’t decided which layout I am going to use. It is a tough one but I will take your thoughts under consideration when I do decide.
My first choice was no 1 but not knowing what you will do with the piece, I think I like no 2 better. I like how it flows on the diagonal.
Thanks, Linda. I am still waffling on which layout I will choose.
