Hey Everyone, welcome back to Cool Tool Thursday.
The other day I was in Orillia at Thimbles & Things asking Sue how to create the grid on my Sunflower Quilt in an easy manner for the pattern. Seeing how the quilt is not symmetrical it is a bit tricky to create and write up easily. Sue suggested I use the Quilt Fuse Grid to create the borders.
I asked her how it works and she told me and I thought it is worth a shot. Anything to make life easier when creating a border made with 1 ½″ squares.
The Quilt Fuse Grid comes by the metre as well as packages. I bought enough for the long side of the quilt. A 2 inch grid is marked on one side of it. I am sure it comes in other sizes as well. One side is soft and nonwoven while the other side has fusible glue on it.
I tried it out and I am totally sold.
It is so easy to use – make sure to check out next week’s Technique Tuesday post to see just how easy it really is to use.
One of the great things about it is that there are no seams to match as you sew the squares together – bonus. No pinning either.
If you haven’t tried this product and you have a grid to make I do recommend it.
See you Tuesday for the how to.
Happy Quilting!
I have seen this grid at 1″, 1.5″, and 2″ square, as well as 1″ on point. The 1″ on point is great for doing a diamond like border, using 2″ fabric squares just take up a 2×2 piece. I have one project that I also used non-square fabric pieces and that turned out well ( 2″ x 4″) – like subway tiles.
Well, this has me intrigued!
