Hey Everyone, welcome back to Story Time Monday.
This little miniature sunflower was inspired by my large Sunflower Quilt which I am happy to say the pattern is now available for. Yippee!
I am teaching this smaller version as a class at Creativfestival next week in Toronto. This piece is 20 ½″ square finished.
The flower petals are made from a Bargello run which uses 5 different golden yellow fabrics ranging from light to dark. The pieces are fused in place on the background just as the large flower was and stitched down with a free motion zigzag stitch.
The centre of this flower is one fabric and has been quilted with a grid pattern to look like seeds. The flower has a diameter of 12 ½″ .
A single inner border sets off the flower from the border.
The quilting was kept simple and compliments the sunflower very well.
A great little project to give as a gift or keep for yourself.
There is still time to sign up for the class on Wednesday October 23, 1- 7 pm. Sign up on Creativefestival’s registration page. The festival is being held at the Metro Toronto Centre in the south building.
Hope to see you in class.
Happy Quilting!
