Hey Everyone, welcome back to Inspirational Sunday.
Yesterday I learned of a juried show presented by the Focus on Fibre Art Association out of Edmonton in 2014. A fellow blogger by the name of Kitchener Quilter alerted me to the show. Not only is she a fellow quilter and doesn’t live far from here in the big scheme of things but she also grew up in Saskatchewan as I did. It is such a small world.
The Focus on Fibre Art Association puts this juried show on every two years. Next year the theme is Prairies. Having grown up in Saskatchewan and lived in Calgary for many years where the prairies are certainly our backyard I feel that I will have to create a piece for this show.
Now to figure out what the image will be – Saskatchewan the land of living skies, dancing fields of golden wheat, oats or barley, the soft blue of flax fields early in the morning or the vibrant yellow of the canola fields set out as big patchwork pieces amongst the other fields. Then of course there are the old barns, fences and cows that would also make a great piece.
So to choose will be the hard part. Maybe a sky on the horizon that is bringing an out-of-this-world thunder and lightning show or a calm blue sky that creates a nice peaceful summer day – the ideas and possibilities are endless.
Notice I have not mentioned winter in any of this – maybe that is because I am so over winter and wishing for these vibrant colours of summer with blue sky and sunshine. It is a good thing I can dream because that is the only way I am going to see it right now.
I am looking forward to the challenge of this one – good thing I still have a few months – might need to visit the real thing for some inspiration – the land of stubble jumpers or as my husband calls it Saskabush.
What a great theme to create a quilt from. Anyone else up to the challenge. I dare you.
Happy Quilting!
