shape cut plus ruler on a piece of fabric

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Cool Tool Thursday.

At the end of my How to Use Quilt Fuse Grid post on Tuesday I mentioned I would showcase a tool. The tool is called the Shape Cut Plus from June Tailor and it is a fantastic ruler when one needs to cut many strips or squares or rectangles of the same size.

The ruler comes in a couple of different sizes – the one shown here is the 12″ x 18″. The Pro version will accommodate a whole width of fabric. The version I have requires the WOF to be folded in half.

The ruler cuts pieces on the inch, ½″ and ¼″ with accuracy and precision.

When cutting many pieces of the same size it certainly makes cutting much easier and faster. I cut all my squares for the checkerboard border with this the other day when I was using the Quilt Fuse Grid.

The ruler has grooves that are cut every ½″ and the rotary cutter fits into these grooves and runs along them to cut the pieces. I did find that I had to use my 45mm rotary cutter as the 28mm one was too small.

If you do a lot of cutting of the same size strips or pieces then this ruler is definitely worth having.

Tune into Technique Tuesday next week to see it in action.

Happy Quilting!
