Hey Everyone, welcome back to Inspirational Sunday.
I woke this morning not having a clue what to write about – I guess I wasn’t very inspired and believe me I need to become inspired quickly as I have a couple of art quilts to finish for the end of the week, a new technique to create for the end of April and a quilt to create for a show in June. The inspiration is there for most of those it is today’s post on inspiration that I was having issues with.
After looking through my photos a few times not a thing was popping out and inspiring me. Then I looked through a folder and saw a butterfly that my father-in-law had manipulated the image of. I had actually seen the photo of just the butterfly earlier in a different folder and thought oh that would be cool to make a quilt of but passed it by and continued on.
When I saw the manipulated version a light bulb went off in my head and I thought what a perfect image for the International Women’s Day Art Show to open June 5, 2013 at the Orillia Museum of Art and History. The theme this year is reflection. Now that I know what my piece will be I have to figure out how to make it look like this. I look forward to the challenge of this project and collecting some interesting fabrics to create this cool butterfly.
Happy Quilting!
That looks like a challenge and learning from you I think we are looking at some bargello here. As someone who has yet to stitch a curved seam I think this proves that I have been paying attention! My goodness you are going to be busy.
Can’t wait to see the butterfly come alive in your quilting!
Thanks Pamela! I’m super excited about this one, too.
There’s just too much darn talent in your family, that photo manipulation by Michael’s dad is amazing. Really looking forward to seeing how the quilt turns out Jenn!
well, I suppose we just have to do something to keep ourselves out of trouble!
