Hey Everyone, welcome back to Mug Rug Monday.
The last week of January and mug rug #4 is done. Only 48 to go.
As you know I have focused on snowflakes the last couple of weeks and this week is no different. When I cut out the snowflake from the Glistening White Snowflake I cut it out really nice with one big piece leftover in the shape of a snowflake.
It had fusible on the back and I thought why not do some reverse appliqué the easy way. I love how the blue appears to pop up out of the white fabric.
After cutting a background piece slightly larger than the snowflake piece I fused the white fabric in place.
I laid it out on a piece of white fabric to see if I wanted a border or not and decided no I would make this mug rug a different size and shape than the others. Variety is good.
No extra quilting on this piece. I used the satin stitch as my quilting. The vibrant blue gives the effect that the blue fabric is actually the appliquéd piece but we all know it isn’t.
Here’s the back. I think it is very cool.
Bound with blue it is ready for use – perfect for those great big round cups. This mug rug is approximately 7″ x 8″ – not quite square.
I love this one – I think it is my favourite of all my snowflake mug rugs. It might have something to do with the fact that I love blue and silver together.
Happy Quilting!

Hi Geeta I am not selling it, sorry but there is a snowflake mug rug pattern in the 2015 winter issue of A Needle Pulling Thread magazine and it may be on their website as well. Happy Quilting Jen
