Modern quilted table runner

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stash Blasting Wednesday.

Last week I highlighted the Modern Convenience table runner and placemat designed by Brenda from Among Brenda’s Quilts and Bags. She has generously donated a pattern for the give-away. Thanks Brenda.

The pattern uses the Creative Grids ruler called the Perfect Rectangle Ruler which Country Concessions from Cookstown, Ontario has generously donated to go along with the pattern. Thanks a bunch Cynthia & Shannon.

In the past week I managed to finish up the table runner and make 4 of the placemats although only one of them is quilted. They are so nice I am not sure I can use them for placemats and risk spilling food. Guess I will be like everyone else and put them away for a special occasion. I had a friend do that with a bottle of ice wine and well when she went to drink it it had fermented – moral of the story don’t wait for a special occasion – now is special.

I quilted each piece with the walking foot and used straight lines only basically echoing the triangles and angular shapes in the design. I used a rayon thread for the quilting which I regretted part way through as for some reason the thread kept breaking until I put my thread stand on the floor and then all was good. I used a dark burgundy thread in the two darker fabrics and an almost white in the light and white fabrics.

The quilting on the placemat only has the triangles and angles outlined once and straight lines in the large rectangle areas.

The runner I quilted much denser than the placemat with multiple echo lines in the different shapes. I like the effect on each.

So now what you have all been waiting for……..

The winner is…  Juliet from Venezuela. Congratulations!

If anyone would like to purchase the pattern you can do so at Among Brenda’s Quilts and Bags.

And another bonus about this pattern is that I did do a bit of stash blasting with it and hopefully will do a little more as I would like to make 8 placemats total – that would pretty much use up the red fabrics.

Happy Quilting!
