Hey Everyone, welcome back to Coffee Talk Saturday.
As of today I have been 14 days sweet free. Yes, it was two weeks ago that I had that piece of Black & White cake at Apple Annie’s in Orillia – oh it was soooooooo good.
For the most part I have not really missed the sweets but every once in a while I would like something sweet and tasty to go with my cup of coffee or as a mid afternoon snack. Today is one of those days that I just need something. Back in May when we were at The Bike Shop in Gravenhurst Kristi, one of the owners, gave us each a cookie. These cookies were great and good for you – no sugar and no flour.
Perfect! I can have that as a snack today since there is no sugar. A great gluten free snack as well. The recipe is on their blog thank goodness. Here is the link for these scrumptious Oatmeal Banana Cookies so you can make some for yourself.
I substituted cranberries and black currants for the dates as I had no dates in the cupboard – not something I usually buy but I guess will have to stock up on them for future cookie making. Apparently chocolate chips work well too which I do have but remember I am sweet free for another 2 weeks or maybe longer. I don’t really need the sugar, I just like the sugar.
Very easy to make and even easier to eat. I don’t think they are going to last very long, better buy some more bananas.
Oh, and only 56 calories per cookie (more if you make ’em bigger, duh!) so you can have a couple and not fret. Double bonus!
Happy Quilting!
