Hey Everyone, welcome back to Inspirational Sunday.
As you know I just spent the last couple of days at the spring CreativFestival show and it was a great success. Thank you to all who stopped by my booth #206 and purchased some of my patterns or just said hey “I follow your blog” or “you were at my guild – what a great trunk show”. All of this is what keeps me motivated to keep on doing what I am doing.
So a great big thank you to all of you because I couldn’t do it without you. As well as you who are at many points around the globe and support what I am doing.
Not to mention all of you who took time out from shopping to attend one or both of my presentations – it was a great way to give your tired feet a break for 45 minutes. Not only were they there to learn but boy did I learn a few tips and tricks of different ideas from all of them as well. Great inspiration!
As I said in my post on Friday I was surrounded by many wonderful vendors and was afraid that I would end up spending all of my profits.
Well, I did purchase a few items (pictured above) but I didn’t go hog wild – although if I had had the time I probably could have as there were so many wonderful items throughout the whole show floor.
I of course had to purchase another cone of Aurifil thread from ByTown Threads since mine is almost gone. When I start this one I am going to put a date on it and see how long it takes to use. This is the thread I use for piecing all of my quilts and I am trying out one of their new colours – 6726. It is a grey that seems to have a bit of a taupe hue to it as well and I am thinking that it is going to blend in very well to any colour of fabric that I put it with. I did resist buying any other thread but I know that Mari Lyn is only a phone call away.
After doing a presentation on pre-cuts and saying that I wanted to use up all of my pre-cuts this year I ended up purchasing 2 more bundles of fat eighths – 16 in each bundle so a total of 32. They were purchased from Kallisti Quilts who carry a wonderful selection of Japanese fabrics. I love the texture and feel of these Japanese fabrics. I’ve decided an art quilt will be in order with these high contrasting fabrics. If I want to get all these pre-cuts used up I had best get to work.
I couldn’t resist the hand dyed fabrics from Give A Darn Yarn – I of course looked at the eye candy all weekend and just couldn’t go home without some of those wonderful colours. I wish I had taken a picture of their booth to show you. The fabric below will make a woven rug and I have some fabric yarn coming so I can knit a rug and then of course some yardage so I can make a quilt or two. Do check out Gail’s website and learn all about how she recycles these fabrics and hand dyes each and every one.
And well I just had to have another basket from Big Village Beads. These are Fair Trade baskets from Ghana. I already have 2 that I purchased 3 years ago that hold our mitts and hats. These baskets come in all shapes, sizes and colours – if you love baskets then do make sure to check them out.
This new one is for my knitting – and look it is already full – I guess maybe I should have bought two.
Have you ever had chocolate with sea salt? I hadn’t and thought oh I don’t think that combo would taste very good but Christie from Quilter’s Line in Markdale, ON said no you have to try it – you will like it. So I tried it and it was divine. Sorry no pic as I ate it.
I had an awesome show meeting many wonderful people, seeing old friends and spending a little bit of my earnings.
Now to get back to work as tomorrow is Mug Rug Monday and I have a mug rug to make.
And a huge thank you to Michael, my husband for spending 3 days in the quilting world helping me out – now you can go for a bike ride, but not until the car is unloaded.
Happy Quilting!
