Border added to quilt

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stash Blasting Wednesday.

The end of the cake refers to the layer cake that I used to create a strip quilt with a couple of weeks ago while at a retreat. These were some of the squares that I did not use as I didn’t feel trucks fit in very well with owls.

The squares left over were trucks and circles with numbers on them – a total of 11.

I decided that this quilt would be plain and simple and quick.

I started by throwing the square up onto the design wall.

In the blank spots I needed to add in other fabric from my stash. Luckily I have a bit of fabric to choose from. Actually I just bought the red and green last week at Thimbles & Things in Orillia to be in the strip quilt but I didn’t use it. The blue is actually part of the fabric line that the layer cake was made form – 10 Little Things from Moda.

I decided that 4 patch blocks would work well.

Add a skinny border of the same fabrics to tie everything together and use the eleventh 10 inch square for the cornerstones.

Voila! A quick and easy quilt for your guild’s Outreach Program. And a few more fabrics removed from my stash. One day maybe it will be a noticeable dent – I can only hope.

Happy Quilting!
