2013 is going to be so bright I have to wear sunglasses!

Hey Everyone, welcome back.  It’s 2013, a new year, new ideas, new beginnings and endless possibilities.

First things first, Happy New Year to all of you and may 2013 be a wonderful year full of happiness, joy, good health and lots of quilting.

I just wanted to update you on a challenge that is happening here at Quilts by Jen.  It is not a quilting challenge but hey, that is another good idea to create a challenge for all of you and then showcase the results here on my website – I’ll think on that and get back to you.

I am adding a few new features to my blog this year – in fact a post every day.  Yes, you read right I am going to do a blog post every day for the next year in fact.  Michael and I were double dog dared by my friend Ruth of Arbee Designs to participate in the 365 blog post challenge with her.  Now a couple of years ago I participated in a blog challenge but it was only 30 days long and I did just fine with it – 365 days, well that is a lot bigger challenge but I am up for it and with Michael taking part in two 365 challenges I figure I can do at least one in my spare time. Michael’s posts are on photography and building little paper figures.

Yah, I got a chuckle about that spare time bit to – what spare time – oh that’s right I am giving up an hour’s sleep every night for this little challenge – I don’t think so – I love my sleep.

Each day of the week or at least Monday to Friday will have a theme and the weekend will be a bit different in that I may talk about quilting or I may not – I do have other interests besides quilting believe it or not.

Monday

I will talk about different quilts and the stories behind them as well as highlight finished UFO’s, students works, fabrics, threads and so on.

Tuesday

Tuesday will continue to be Technique Tuesday.

Wednesday

The topic of the day is all about blocks from simple to complex – the plan is to spotlight different blocks, their variations and then make a quilt out of these blocks every few weeks or sets of blocks and donate to the cuddle quilt program at the Orillia guild.  I do have a rule for this day – I am only allowed to use fabrics from my stash – no new fabric purchase is allowed.

Thursday

Thursday will continue to be Tool Thursday as it has been but now it will be a weekly post of a cool tool, gadget, ruler etc. instead of just every once in a while.  If you have a cool gadget you like let me know and I can spotlight it here on Tool Thursday.

Friday

Friday will be all about colour – oh how I love colour.

The Weekend

Saturday & Sunday will be coffee talk with Jen – who knows what the topics will be – even I don’t know yet.  Maybe it will just be about coffee – I love coffee probably just as much as I love colour.

So now that we are all on the same page with what I am doing here at Quilts by Jen for the next year I best get on with Block Wednesday.

See you soon and Happy Quilting
