Another Possibility For The Paper Towel Motif

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Free Motion Friday.

I know the paper towel again. This will be the last you see of the paper towel but Ruth did ask if I had any other ideas for it and I didn’t want to disappoint her. She also did a second post about this motif the other day on her blog called Inspired By Another 2.

I continued on with using the free motion zigzag for this weeks quilting as well. Last weeks post titled How to Quilt the Paper Towel Inspired Motif  used only a double line outline of the pattern. This week I made the stem and the heart with only one line of stitching and the curvy bits with two which I then filled in. It gives a very interesting ribbon like twist around the stem. Or a dancing snake depending how you interpret it.

It really is quite amazing how many ideas can come from one little piece of paper towel.

Just as an aside – the outline of the design using the Trace ‘n Mark Air Erasable Pen that I highlighted a week ago on Cool Tool Thursday was still just visible this week. This was after a week of just sitting around in my studio. It had definitely faded but I could still see it well enough to follow the outline. Good to know that it doesn’t disappear after a day if you cannot get to the piece to quilt it as I have had that happen with other disappearing pens. If you look really close at the photo you can see some of the faded markings.

Happy Quilting!
