Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday.
Last week I added some couching to the hand dyed fabric I chose as the background. And today I am going to add in some more stitching with the threads I chose way back in Week 1.
For this week’s full set of rules check out Ruth’s blog – February Rules Week 3. And don’t forget to check out the Gallery to see what we are all up to.
I pulled out a couple of threads to use for the stitching today – one from the original set I picked a couple of weeks ago and a new one. The new one is a very heavy cord like thread that I put in the bobbin and sewed from the back of the piece.
The second thread is a bright variegated hand dyed thread that I was disappointed with once stitched in place. It didn’t show up near as brightly as I thought it would. I filled in the spaces between the bobbin play and couching with this thread.
All the stitching today was done as free motion. I’m not really very happy with my piece as it is not looking as I had envisioned. These things happen with art and it is a learning experience to try out new things and techniques. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
That’s it for today. Next week I’ll be finishing up this little piece since it is the last Sunday in February.
Happy Quilting!
