Hey Everyone, welcome back to Story Time Monday.
Today I am going to deviate from my usual story telling of one of my quilts to showing some more quilts that I saw on the weekend in London. Ontario. I am still in awe of everything I saw and just how amazing it was.
The Tent-makers of Cairo are an amazing group of men who create these hand appliquéd pieces which are truly phenomenal. The pieces are all hand turned appliqué and as one person commented on my Facebook page the needle just flies when they are working. I have not had the privilege of seeing them in action but I am sure it is amazing to watch. Maybe one day a trip to Egypt could be arranged.
Many of the quilts were brightly coloured while others were much more subdued. With my love of colour I, of course, was drawn to the brightly coloured ones.
But the one I would have loved to have brought home with me was a monochromatic scheme.
The piece at the top of the page is called “The Tree of Life”. It was the first quilt everyone saw as they walked into the venue where the quilts were on display. Seeing that one first one knew it was going to be an exceptional show. Here are a couple of close ups of “The Tree of Life”. Totally exquisite work.
So just a bit more inspiration – are you overwhelmed yet? I know I certainly was but my mind was also going a thousand miles an hour thinking how inspired I was and how I just wanted to come home and get into those fabrics I bought. They are still sitting on the table waiting for the right moment to be used.
Happy Quilting!
So beautiful. They look like paintings.
Just gorgeous, especially The Tree of Life.
