Hey Everyone, welcome back to Story Time Monday.
A few years ago, before we moved to Australia, we went to Thailand to attend a traditional Thai wedding. Michael’s best friend from university fell in love with Nue. They decided to get married in Thailand and have a traditional Thai wedding. It was a very interesting and enjoyable day indeed.
Going all that way we made a holiday of it as well. Nue’s family was very generous and one night we stayed at her father’s place. I wanted to make something for him to say thank you for his hospitality and thought what can I make that is little and doesn’t need to be hung on the wall but can be propped up on a cabinet shelf. The house was made of cinderblocks so it would have been very difficult for him to hang a wall hanging.
Upon returning home to the arctic I figured what better gift than an Inukshuk. This little piece was only at most 10 inches square. It was all appliquéd onto Timtex which is a very stiff interfacing used for making decorative boxes, bowls, etc. This way Nue’s father would be able to prop it up against something to display it.
A little bit of Canadian arctic history resides in a home in Thailand.
Happy Quilting!
What a great gift to give Jenn!
