Hey Everyone, welcome back to Inspirational Sunday.
I love poppies, how they sway in the breeze and look up to the sun. There are so many different kinds of poppies – California, Icelandic and Oriental to name a few. All of them very different and unique in their own way.
A couple of years ago while in California at the Empty Spools Seminar my friend and I went for a hike in one of the nearby parks. There was this field of orange poppies that were just gorgeous especially set against the blue sky and ocean.
Oh wait, are not blue and orange complementary colours – yes, they are – isn’t mother nature just so smart?
A few years prior to this little trip to California I made a poppy quilt for a very good friend of mine. It was a McKenna Ryan design and had all of these teeny tiny little pieces but despite that it looked great when I finished. Notice that the poppies in this wall hanging are a very similar colour to the ones in the field of poppies.
I am thinking another poppy quilt may be in order – one just with a very large poppy or two.
Happy Quilting!
Jen, you’re not going to believe what flower block I’m doing this week.
Lemme guess… A poppy block?!
