It has been a long time since I did a quilt challenge with Ruth of Arbee Designs. Her and I use to do all kinds of challenges and had a series called Stitch Along Sundays where we made mini art quilts and had fun playing with fabric, thread, appliqué and several types of embellishing methods.

Last week Ruth contacted me and said do you want to do another little quilt challenge and I said sure, why not it will get me blogging again. And my creative juices flowing. We will have guidelines in week to follow. Ruth will post these on her blog on Tuesdays. Feel free to join in with us.

This weeks guidelines were to find an orphaned block 10-14 inches square and then add some coordinating fabrics as well as fabric for a border and choose threads to go with everything.

So I don’t have any orphaned blocks. When we downsized a few years ago I got rid of all my orphaned blocks as well as a lot of fabric. It was quite liberating but at times I wish I still had it all. But, I do have some orphaned strips from a recent quilt that I made.

Which I could add any colour to.

But I’m not so sure I want to use those strips for this project.

I went hunting in my stash of new fabrics and found a couple of busy prints that should work. As well as a paint brush type to go with the squiggles and splashes.

And some coordinating fabrics to go with each.

And don’t forget the thread.

There you have it. I just have to make a choice of which busy fabric to use. Do you have a preference? I know what mine is but I’m not going to reveal anything until next week.

Until then….

Happy Quilting
