Hey there, welcome back to the July 2021 Quilt Challenge. Last week I auditioned some fabrics and shared them with you. Today I will reveal which one I decided on as my 12 inch block.

The squiggles and splashes won. I bet you thought the other fabric won since it was at the top of the page.

The guidelines for this weeks portion of the challenge can be found on Ruth’s blog and after reading them I wondered if I had chosen the right fabric or not.

I drew a 3 inch square in the middle of the paper and cut it out as instructed then placed it on my fabric in three different spots to see what it looked like.

The idea now is that I am suppose to make a line drawing of the area showing through the square. This fabric could be kind of interesting as a line drawing. Then the line drawing is to be made 1.5 times larger and filled in with fabric which can be pieced, appliquéd and I suppose even glued. The result should be a 4.5 inch block created with a variety of coordinating fabrics.

Maybe I should have chose the other busy fabric. Let’s see what it looks like.

Much better. A line drawing would be much easier to create with this fabric. But what about the other colourful fabric I had to go with the squiggles and splashes.

Third fabric option

Hmmmm, I like this. And even easier to do a line drawing with it.

That’s it for today. I’ll be back in a couple of days to let you know if I went with the challenge of the squiggles or the ease of one of the other two fabrics.

Until then….

Happy Quilting
