close up of triangles with buttons

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday.

I’m a bit behind with finishing up my stitch along piece but here is what I have done so far.

If you remember from week 4 I wasn’t sure how I was going to attach the multi-coloured triangles to the border.

This week it is time to finish the piece – add the finishing touches and binding.

For this week’s complete set of rules see Ruth blog – Week 5 Rules. And don’t forget to check out the Gallery while you are there.

Today I decided that I would edge them all with pinking shears so that they wouldn’t fray and then glue them in place with a UHU glue stick.

To ensure they stayed in place my plan was to sew a small button in the middle of each triangle which you can see in the photo above.

That was my plan when I started the piece and then I sewed the binding on and decided that maybe the triangles needed just a bit more to secure them in place.

So I did some free motion stitching in the triangles mimicking the shape of the triangle.

I’ll use the tail of thread from the quilting to sew the button in the middle of each triangle.

I’m not quite finished the piece – still need to sew on those teeny tiny itty bitty buttons and hand sew the binding in place and uh oh I forgot to put hanging triangles on. Guess I had better do that before I hand sew that binding in place otherwise I’ll be doing some ripping out and I have no time for that sort of nonsense.

Don’t worry I’ll post a photo of it all finished.

This was the last week for May and next week we will be starting a new challenge. I wonder what Ruth has in store for us next month?

Happy Quilting!
