completed little art quilt

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday.

Wow the last Sunday in August and the last week for this little art quilt challenge. Last week we added embellishments to our pieces.

The rules for this week are to finish the quilt in whatever fashion you wish. Here are August week 4 challenge rules. Check out Ruth’s piece on her blog and everyone else’s in the gallery.

I decided to finish mine with the no binding method. Very simple and easy especially when the quilt is not square and has many edges.

So I trimmed my piece.

Then cut the backing and sewed it to the front of the quilt, right sides together.

Once sewn together I pulled it through the opening so it was right side up and stitch the opening closed after giving it a good press.

There it sat on the table for a while and I thought it still looked a bit bare so I added stippling to the background of the quilt with a thread that blended in but showed up a bit.

Once done I still wasn’t happy and added two more pieces of rickrack to the upper right corner.

There it is the final piece – still not my favourite, not even near but I had fun making it. Michael’s thoughts – he thinks it is ugly but also kinda cool.

I have decided to name it Flowers in the Treehouse.

See you next week for a brand new challenge. I’ve seen the rules and it’s going to be fun so don’t miss it.

Happy Quilting!
