Oval shapes on squares

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Stitch Along Sunday.

So I missed last week and am now playing catch up. I will hopefully get week 3 done in the next couple of days.

Week 2 & 3 rules are together and can be found on Ruth’s blog, April Rules- Week 2 & 3. Also don’t forget to check out the Gallery to see what everyone else is creating this month.

The words I chose to work with for this week are as follows. If you missed my list of words they can be found on my post Stitch Along Sunday – April Week 1.

Square, Navy, Grid & Green

Wow, 4 words in the first go. From the navy and green fabrics I cut 3 ½″ squares to sew together in a grid of 3 x 4 or 4 x 3 depending on which way the piece is oriented. The finished size of my piece will be 9 x 12 inches just like the others.

Silver

I then chose to add in this silver mesh fabric which was actually a bit stretchy when I was sewing it which really surprised me. I have no idea what it is but it worked well with the background and used up another word.

Two silver mesh-like pieces added

Oval & Appliqué

Lastly I appliquéd some oval shapes onto the piece that look a bit like Easter eggs.

That’s it for week 2. Hoping to bring you week 3 in the next day or two. Of the eleven words I had to work with I have already used up 7 of them so only 4 to go – maybe I’ll squeeze in a couple of extra for added fun.

Happy Quilting!
