Scattered Eggs - Mug Rug #14

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Mug Rug Monday.

Today’s mug rug was actually the start of a Stitch Along Sunday piece from last year. I believe I started it in April 2014 – how appropriate that I finish it a year later. That was a great month for stitch along – I made two and we did the pieces based on words.

And it really is quite appropriate for this Easter Monday – eggs scattered about on the ground. Did you go on an egg hunt?

With the background and appliqué already done all I need to do is some stitching around the egg shapes and some quilting in the background. Easy peasy.

Some zigzag stitch around the eggs in a lovely variegated purple and pink thread. It’s King Tut – I haven’t used my King Tut threads for ages – I forgot how much I liked them.

After stitching around the eggs I decided that was good and the piece didn’t need the background quilted. So I trimmed off the extra batting and backing then decided it needed some quilting. I used the Chaco liner to draw on my quilting lines to keep my on the straight and narrow.

The biggest challenge will be finding one of the background fabrics so I can make the binding. I know it is around here somewhere.

I didn’t find the background fabrics – I know I have more of them but just have no idea where they are. I used the lightest pink for the binding instead – it’s okay just not my first choice. Oh well.

This Scattered Eggs mug rug is 9 ½″ x 12 ½″ – a little larger than the others but it did start out life with a different purpose in mind.
