Hey Everyone, welcome to Tool Technique Thursday. Every once in a while I will feature a cool little tool that relates to quilting or sewing. This tool compliments my last two Technique Tuesday posts quite nicely. (Don’t these little red clips look like a traffic jam of cute little red bumper cars?)
Little Red Clips or as Clover calls them, Wonder Clips, are a tool I just started using this year. Their purpose is to hold the binding in place as you hand sew it to the back. I was a bit skeptical about them when I was first introduced to them but then thought okay I will give them a try and I was hooked. I use them on every binding that I attach now. They do a great job of keeping the binding in place so that I don’t have to keep hand pressing it down to the back to keep it straight and in place.
These little red clips come in packages of 10 or 50. I bought the 10 pack so I have to keep moving them along the binding as I work my way along the. Not a big deal really though, I do believe the ideal number to have on hand would probably be 20 – 30.
They look like tiny little clothes pins with a notched area that sits nicely over the quilt binding to hold it in place.
Usually I place them 4 – 6 inches apart which seems to be sufficient to hold the binding where I want it.
Give them a try and see what you think. I really hope this helps make your quilting life just a little bit easier, so I would love to know what you think of them as well.
Until next time, Happy Quilting.
