Girls Afternoon Out

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Coffee Talk Saturday.

I had an afternoon out with my friend Marian. By the way, Marian has this great blog called Sweetopia where she shows you how to make all kinds of decadent cupcakes, cookies and other sweet goodies. You should really check it out as the artistry and detail on these sweets is really quite something.

We went to Orillia to check out the Women’s Art Show at the Orillia Museum of Art and History. While I went to the opening the other evening it was so well attended that I couldn’t get close to any of the pieces to have a good look and read their stories. It truly is a great display of talent with 104 wonderful artists from the area. The show is on until the middle of July. I do recommend checking it out.

After we had our cultural experience we headed around the corner and up the street to Apple Annie’s where we partook of some decadence. The mousse cake is to die for. I had this wonderful black & white mousse cake with a flat white. The only place I seem to be able to get a flat white in all of North America – I was in heaven. For those of you who are coffee drinkers and have never had a flat white well, what can I say – you are missing out.

Look at the cool little heart in the chocolate sauce.

But that was the last of our sweets for this month and until July 9 as we are both going sweet free. I did it last November so I figure I can do it again – better have Michael eat all that ice cream in the freezer before I lose my will power. [Editor’s note: you can be sure I’ll be waving spoonfuls of sweets under her nose to test her resolve. Cruel? Maybe. But then, so is the idea of sweet free month. Crazy talk.]

Hope you have had a great Saturday.

Happy Quilting!
