Join Jennifer and the Erie Shore Quilters in Kingsville and explore the world of colour and learn how to apply Bargello to create this Bargello Sunflower.
Learn how the use of light, medium and dark valued fabrics will create contrast in a quilt. Go beyond the basic fusible appliqué and create appliqué designs with movement simply related to the placement of light, medium and dark values.
Working with colour runs and strip sets you will create a Bargello run for the appliqué pieces rather than using just one piece of fabric for the appliqué. The Bargello run with its movement and colour placement will give depth and dimension to the sunflower.
Learn how to finish off the flower and add detail to each petal by using the technique of free motion zigzag. Discuss the use of different background colours using the colour wheel to pick the optimal colour to highlight the flower and set it off.
Finally, learn about simple border designs that will enhance the flower rather than distract from it.
Includes pattern and templates.
