Another Great Quilting Tool That Is Purple

Hey Everyone, welcome back to Cool Tool Thursday.

I made a pillow a long time ago when I was still living in Yellowknife. It travelled to Australia and back to Canada with me. Now the pillow has become rather flat as it has spent the past several months providing me a little extra boost on my chair for sewing.

Unfortunately, the pillow just isn’t doing it for me anymore and I had to add a couple of layers of batting under the pillow to get the boost I need. I always seem to forget the pillow when I go to Simcoe Sew & Quilt to teach so I just grab a Sit Upon to sit on and give me that extra boost that I need.

What is it you ask? It is a round purple rubber disc that is lightly inflated. It is approximately 2 ½″ in height and 12 inches in diameter. There are little nubs on it to allow for air flow and good blood circulation. The premise is that it is to make sitting more comfortable by helping to prevent fatigue and pain in the lower back, reducing pressure on the tailbone and improving posture and core muscle use.

What is it called? It is called The Gypsy Sit Upon from the Gypsy Quilter

I find it is great to give me the extra boost that I need to sit at the right height for my machine and to help me keep better posture while I am sitting at the sewing machine. It does take a bit of getting use to as it is a bit wobbly but it doesn’t take long to fall in love with it.

I should have bought one ages ago but you know how it is one of those things that I just hadn’t gotten around to but now I have one and life is good. Comfort is very important when quilting. I can put the pillow back where it belongs and the extra batting back in the bin to use on a quilt.

Oh and did I mention it is purple and reminds me of a whoopee cushion.

Bonus –  it matches my Bitty Buddy also from the Gypsy Quilter

Happy Quilting!
